Today a brave man passed away.
He was probably the most charitable person in our country.
He was an ordinary hero.

(This quick drawing is my first attempt with my new Wacom tablet Intuos A6 wide).

Innocence

There was a UNICEF/UNESCO campaign with a quote from chilean writer that touched me. As I feel concerned about all the perils that can happen to an innocent human being, I thought it would be useful to make some sort of poster.
Neglecting can occur to anyone, anywhere, anytime, in any step of the social scale. Being a parent is a responsability for life ! Of all the families I've met, man of them didn't think twice before having a baby.
It's not a toy, or a doll, or a pet, or something you can let live without you. It's an every minute work.

J'ai aperçu un jour une campagne UNICEF ou UNESCO avec une citation d'une auteure chilienne qui m'a beaucoup marquée. Me sentant concernée par tout ce qui peut arriver à un être innocent, j'ai pensé utile de créer une sorte d'affiche.
La négligence arrive à n'importe qui, n'importe quand, n'importe où, dans n'importe quelle classe sociale. Etre parent est une responsabilité à vie. De toute les familles que j'ai pu connaitre, bien peu ont réfléchi à deux fois avant d'avoir un enfant.
Un bébé n'est pas un jouet, une poupée ou un animal de compagnie que l'on peut laisser dans un coin. C'est un effort de chaque instant.

Light on

Here is a digital creation, inspired by "tsrmkart - pampero" by Awakeone on Deviantart.
I had just taken the picture of the lamp in a cafe, so I thought I could do a similar piece.
But it was a challenge to get the right texture, and not destroy too much of the original image (9 layers in Photoshop !).

Voici une création numérique inspirée d'une affiche vue sur deviantart.
Je venais justement de prendre une photo de cette lampe et j'ai pensé que je pourrais reprendre le concept.
Ce ne fut pas si facile d'obtenir une bonne texture sans dénaturer complètement l'image d'origine (9 calques dans Photoshop !).

Pictures taken for Studio Friday weekly theme : Travels

I've traveled quite a lot this year : Rome (Italy), Kani (Maldives islands), Amsterdam (Netherlands), and in France to Caen, Lyon, Belle-Ile-en-mer, Bordeaux.
I usually bring back postcards from every place I went to, as you can see on the sides of my desk.
What you can not see are the hundreds and hundreds of pictures taken, because the photographer in me is never on holidays ;)

Detail - making of

When I saw this piece, I was instantly inspired.
"Words that have offended me"... Quite easy to remember all the pain and hurts and feelings.
So here is a collection of what I've heard from parents, friends, teachers, lovers.
What is still a scratch on my heart.

Quand j'ai vu cette peinture, j'ai été immédiatement inspirée.
"Les mots qui m'ont offensée"... Se rappeler la douleur et les émotions des choses blessantes qu'ont pu me dire des proches, des professeurs ou des amis est tristement facile.
Ceci est donc une collection de mes cicatrices du coeur.

Illustration Friday : Buzz

Here is my submission to Illustration Friday "Buzz".
Many artists are drawing bees or insects, but in French (for me), buzz first refers to gossip about people, a person, a product, an event.
Not difficult to find material around me...

Contrast and colors have been exaggerated on the pictures because newspapers (and their readers!) tend to over-expose the little things of VIP's life and under-estimate their work.

En France, pour moi, buzz réfère à 'gossip', potins, blabla autour d'un produit, d'une personne, d'une mode, d'un événement, généralement "beaucoup de bruit pour rien".
Il n'a pas été difficile de trouver quelques journaux et d'y puiser la matière...

Couleurs et contraste ont été exagérés sur les photos pour rendre compte de la manière sur-dimensionnée dont les médias traitent les choses peu importantes de la vie des stars.

Identity

Here is my (new) signature logo, drawn with Inkscape, an Open Source vector graphics editor, with capabilities similar to Illustrator or CorelDraw.



The name of this blog "Dust 'n scratches" came to me one night after long hours of brainstorming to find a word or expression that could fit for both traditional and digital arts.
Because i'm a beginner and because i don't have time and money to go back to school, I have started collages and paintings with what I can find in supermarkets or in my daily environment (my first collage is made of newspapers pieces and breakfast cereals boxes!).

I'm not a typo guru, a painting master, a drawing acrobat, or a photoshop pro.
I'm a newbie in all artistic media, except photography I practice for 3 years.
With ideas and will, I hope to be able to show great pieces.

Le nom de ce blog m'ait venu une nuit après des heures de réflexion sur un nom pouvant regrouper les travaux numériques et traditionnels.
Il m'a semblé évident car je commence avec ce que je trouve dan sles supermarchés ou autour de moi au quotidien (mon premier collage est fait à partir de coupures de journaux gratuits et d'une boite de céréales !)

Je ne suis pas une spécialiste en typographie, peinture, dessin ou Photoshop.
Je suis une simple débutante, hormis en photographie que je pratique depuis 3 ans.
Avec des idées et de la volonté, j'espère pouvoir montrer des oeuvres intéressantes.
